The questions people actually ask before they call us

These are the six questions that come up most often, in the words people actually use. Each has a short answer here and a full one behind the link.

Our business does not come up when I ask ChatGPT who the best brokers are, what can we do?

Usually either the engines cannot read your site properly, or nobody outside your own website has written anything about you for them to draw on. Two different problems with two different fixes, and it is worth knowing which one you have before spending money on either.

We rank well on Google but never appear in AI answers, is that actually a problem?

Yes, but not for everyone. Ranking is a competition for a place in a list. Citation is a competition to be the clearest usable answer. It matters in proportion to how much of your new business could start with a stranger asking a question.

I asked ChatGPT about my own company and it got the details wrong, how do I fix that?

You cannot edit the answer directly, and nobody can sell you that. You change what it reads: state the facts clearly on your own site, make every other source agree, and re-test in a fresh session.

We have been quoted thousands for an AI project, how do I tell if it is worth paying for?

Start by asking what the process costs you today. If the proposal has no baseline, the quote is a number with no denominator. Four more questions in the full answer, and the quality of the replies tells you more than the price does.

My team spends hours a week on the same repetitive admin, where would AI actually help?

Look for work that is repetitive, rules-based and resource-intensive. All three, not one. In most businesses that means the work that happens around the work: routing, rekeying, summarising and chasing.

How do I know if AI is worth it for my business, or just hype?

It is worth it if you have repetitive rules-based work that costs real hours. It is hype if you are being sold a strategy rather than a fix to something specific. A fair proportion of the businesses we speak to are not ready, and we tell them so.

If you would rather have this measured than described

The AI Visibility Audit at the AI Visibility Audit page tests the queries your buyers actually use across ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, and shows you who got named instead of you. £995, delivered in five working days, and the fixes you can do yourself go at the top of the report.

If you would rather just talk, a free discovery call at our booking page is forty-five minutes on one process of your choosing. No pitch, and no obligation afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does ChatGPT name our competitor and not us?

Usually because they appear somewhere the engine trusts and you do not. That is often a directory listing, a trade press mention or a review profile, rather than anything about the quality of the two businesses.

Is AEO replacing SEO?

No. They overlap heavily in the technical foundations and diverge in emphasis. Most businesses now need both, and the same underlying work serves both.

Can I report an error to OpenAI?

There is a thumbs-down and feedback mechanism in the interface, and it is worth using, but treat it as a nudge rather than a correction. It does not update an answer on request.

Should I get three quotes?

Yes, and compare the questions they asked, not just the numbers. The one who interrogated your process hardest is usually the one who will deliver.

Where do most businesses start?

Email triage, document handling and post-task summarising. High volume, low judgement, low risk if it gets something wrong.

Is it too late to start?

No. Most UK SMEs have done very little beyond individuals using chat tools privately. The gap between reading about it and doing something narrow and useful is still small.
